Our village name comes from an old name Iudini, that means water.
Possibly Īdeņa is the only fisherman village in Latvia, that is not located near the sea. Īdeņa has been an island surrounded by lake and wetlands. It still have maintain traditional island architecture when houses are located near the water and evidence about alive fishing traditions.
Our village has long traces in Latvian prehistory - inhabitants can be traced in this are since Stone Age.
